Grade 7 DL Course Descriptons

DL Standard

  • English Language Arts 7  (ELA7)
Unit studies using Accelerated Christian Education materials: English  (12 PACEs), and Word Building (12 PACEs).  The teacher will assign 2 Canadian novels and written assignments/essays  for the Literature segment of this course along with regular conference calls.
  • Mathematics 7  (MA7)
God is the Master Mathematician and as such, He has created us with the capacity to quantify and qualify.  Numbers let us say how much we know, while their endlessness shows how little we know.  Basic number facts point to God’s steadfast character, while exponential notation points to His infinitude.  The best way to understand math is to do math.  Through daily exploration of math operations, students learn about the vast usefulness and order of numbers and number theory.  This continuous review program allows students to experience and re-experience math.  BC Math and Accelerated Christian Education (12 PACEs ) curriculum is used.
  • Science 7  (SC7)
God created our natural resources and Christians are responsible to manage them responsibly.  Students investigate sources of energy and options, explore use historically and represent their findings through a variety of representations.  Teacher developed assignments using Science Probe 7 (resource book), Earth Science for Christian Schools (textbook), and web sites.
  • Social Studies 7  (SS7)
From the beginning: Sumer to Canaan. We will take a serious look at evolution and creation; learning about scientific evidence for creation as well as being sensitive to other views. This will lead to a study of the earliest civilizations of Mesopotamia - the Sumerians to the Babylonians; considering why they rose and fell. We will be using graphs, tables, timelines, and maps.
  • Computer 7  (COMP7)
Teacher will discuss computer program needs on an individual basis. Suggested program “Mavis Beacon Teaches Keyboardingâ€Â. Goal to reach 25 wpm by end of grade 7 (includes minimum per day practise).

  • Visual Art 7  (VA7)
