BC Homeschool Registration

Families who wish only to register their child as a BC home schooler with Anchor Academy (no accountability, no curriculum planning, and no teacher support) may do so by mailing a completed Home School Registration Form to Anchor Academy and submitting a copy of each registering child's birth certificate and Care Card.

Benefits of registering with Anchor Academy include:

  • A discount of 2% per registered child on curriculum purchases at Anchor Academy when a completed Parent Discount Form has been submitted. (see page E-9 of the Handbook)
  • A Textbook Credit Allocation of $150 for each registered child which may be used to obtain curriculum materials from Anchor Academy.
  • Free Anchor Academy student ID card and parent ID card if photos are submitted by September 14.
  • Free Reading Readiness Test (for preschool/grade 1), and/or a free set of diagnostic tests (English, Math, Spelling - for grades 2-12), and/or free Canadian Achievement Test.
  • Access to purchase all Accelerated Christian Education (ACE) materials through Anchor Academy.
  • Full access to the Anchor Resource Korner (ARK) library of literature books, textbooks, videos/DVDs (including complete series for all high school sciences and math), preschool and learning-to-read phonics kits, as well as score keys.
  • If you desire, our staff is available to be of any assistance and encouragement to the challenges and rewards of homeschooling!

Registrations must be received by Anchor Academy before the end of September each year. Parents may register their homeschooling children from anywhere within BC.

Students transferring to Anchor Academy from another school need to request their Personal Education Number (P.E.N.) from the previous school. To avoid double registration, which wold result in loss of the grant, the principal of the previous school must be told that your child is transferring. If you cannot obtain the P.E.N., be sure to submit the registration form by September 28 anyway. Anchor Academy staff will assist you if necessary.

The British Columbia Ministry of Education requires that every home schooling school-age child residing in the province register by the end of September each year.
