High School Cross Enrolment (CE)

High School Cross Enrolment (CE)

High School Cross Enrolment is another BC MOE funded Home Learning Program Option at Anchor Academy.  As a BC Ministry of Education Independent School, Anchor Academy is offering cross enrolment to grade 10 to 12 students throughout the province.

What is cross enrolment?

In an effort to maximize educational options for British Columbia teens, the Ministry of Education has opened the door to allow high schoolers to enrol in courses anywhere in the province, even in several dif- ferent schools simultaneously. And, in spite of the complexity this creates, the provincial funding follows the student’s choices. Theoretically, this means a BC young person could enrol in ten provincially author- ized courses in ten different schools, and each school would receive a per course grant on behalf of that student.

What does this mean for your son or daughter?

At the moment, your teen may be enrolled in a brick and mortar BC high school. However, he/she may choose to participate in an Anchor Academy short term mission, enrol in an Advanced Placement course, join the next S.A.L.T.S. team for a tall ship sailing experience, or take an Essentials of Math course! The options are almost endless. Successfully completed courses will be appropriately credited irrespective of school locations, and will be recorded on the Student Transcript.

So how can my grade 10, 11, 12 student cross enrol in an Anchor Academy course?

Step 1 Fill out and submit the following Anchor Academy forms before September 30:

Enrolment Form: Be sure to indicate which subjects are being chosen. As well, tell us which school(s) are also enrolling your teen.

(We will have to share school marks with cross enrolling schools.)

Parental Consent Form

Legal Residency of Parent

Also required: A clear photocopy of the student’s Care Card and Birth Certificate

Step 2 Once enrolment has been processed, an Anchor Academy representative will contact you.

Standard Program

The Standard Distributed Learning (DL) Program:

Anchor’s DL Standard (DLS) Program places the student under the direction of a certified teacher who has prepared everything needed for the student’s school year: the courses, the curriculum, the Student Learning Plan (SLP), and the plan for assessment. The student belongs to a province-wide "class" of other students in the same grade and they all do the same thing. The school year is divided into quarters.  The Standard program is a fully funded program available for students K-12.

By enrolling in the Standard (DLS) Program the course costs are covered by government grants for most British Columbia residents.  The student works with BC Certified teachers and there are Provincial Exams for high school students.  To view the on line Enrolment Form, click here.
