Kindergarten DS Course Descriptions

DL Standard

  • Kindergarten  (K)
The program (Preschool with Ace and Christi) is divided into 4 binders (60 PACEs) that incorporate the teacher training the student to enjoy school and develop an “I-can-do-it” attitude. Students are taught the alphabet (letters/sounds/printing in upper/lower case), numbers 1 to 24 are introduced, as well as nine animal letter sounds, colours/shapes, physical development (hand/eye coordination, health/hygiene, safety awareness), Bible and other concepts (inside/outside, between/alike, open/close, etc.).  Students learn about their family, and personal responsibilities and the people in their community.  Daily activities include puzzles, songs and outside games.

DL Individualized

  • Kindergarten  (K - I)
Courses may be either self-designed or teacher developed.  In self-designed courses parents collaborate with the teacher to select resources, refine individual goals, and select assessment strategies that meet the Provincial Learning Outcomes for Kindergarten.  Parents interested in teacher-developed courses may contact the individual teachers for information on courses currently available.
